FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL)

What is FLL?

FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) is a program that supports children, ages 9-14 in order to introduce them to science and technology in a positive learning environment. Teams develop robots and do research on the annually changing challenge theme.

    The objective is to:
  • make students enthusiastic about science and technology
  • to equip the participants with the idea of team spirit
  • to encourage students to solve complex tasks in a creative way

There are three components to the competition :
  • Robot Building and programming
  • Core Values
  • Project Research and presentation.

How does a FLL Tournament work?

The FLL Teams are working on the missions of the FLL Robot Game and the presentation of the FLL Research Project. The topic of the challenge changes every year and refers to current developments and situations in the world. The challenge documents and necessary information according the tournament are announced online exclusively. When preparing for the FLL Regional Tournament each FLL Team is guided by its FLL Coach. During the preparation period the team constructs and programs as well as it is learning how to find and analyse information and prepare a presentation of their research results, which will be presented to the FLL Jury on the tournament day. There are no limits for presenting to keep up the fun factor: poems, songs, plays - whatever fantasy can imagine!

Team Hydro Knights by WhizLearning Kids We are proud to share that for the FIRST time, we participated in the FLL competition in 2017, when the challenge was Hydrodynamics. The team had an amazing experience learning about Water resources, conservation and usage. We organized an in house field trip by the Gwinnett Department of Water resources for a presentation and activities related to Water. Our team coach, Anubhav Jain (kids like to call him coach AJ) worked tirelessly along with team mentors Weiliang Sun from NGHS and Arnav Jain from GSMST to guide the team throughout the season.

We are excited to announce that the team progressed all the way from Regionals to the State Level competition and bagged awards along the way for BEST ROBOT DESIGN and BEST OVERALL ROBOT PERFORMANCE !
